At the beginning of any trip or journey all the tools and supplies are packed and carefully selected. This is so the journey goes well. We can’t expect to be traveling uncertain terrain empty handed and unprepared. Good preparation will get us to our destination safe and with everything we need to do well. It’s the little things that can lead to big results.

The healing journey is not a whole lot different. Once a family unit decides they are going on the journey of healing and growth together, they need to pack their tools, supplies and what they need. Health and wellness have become a foggy road to travel. Lots of twists and turns, lots of watching for falling rock.

When our family separated from active service with the military, our health and wellness were not really explained as journey but more like a convenience store or gas station to stop in at as needed along the way to wherever we were going. As we traveled this way for years, no wonder we ended up lost, stuck out in the middle of nowhere, desperately in need of a tow back to start over.

When we left the traditional broken roads behind and turned to the ancient paths, the ones less traveled, we started to see that our healing journey had been going the wrong way, leading to dead ends. No through streets there.

Health and wellness start with the ones taking the trip. That was the first thing we missed on our journey. Each passenger on this journey will need different accommodations, they will travel at different speeds, needing fuel at different times and wanting to stop at different resting stops along the way. While we may all be riding in the same vehicle, we see the journey from very different perspectives and needs.

Wellness and health are a mind, body and soul type of journey. We have the basic road of health and then we have individual detours along the way. From unhealed trauma, gut health, brain support and health, prayer, fasting, food as medicine, herbal support, spending time together in nature to individual hands on therapies; the body requires attention to detail and an oil change here and there to make the journey well.

Health and wellness go even further when we are looking to reach a new destination through this journey. More than what we eat but what we put inside our bodies, what we wear on our bodies, what we listen to, what we watch , what we read and how we pass the time.

At Set Apart Farms, we take a new approach to the long-term healing journey that Veterans and their families go though. It’s about an inner transformation, a renewing of the mind, and a softening of the heart. We understand that when we connect to the Author of our hearts, the Healer of our souls that we can be free to heal in ways that we never could without Him. Living with His good ways for our families ensures we reach the destination we have set for. A new place of healing that extends to the whole family.

In the Bible, the concept of wellness is captured in the Hebrew word Shalom. Wholeness. Peace. Completeness. In His good ways He will bring peace and shalom to our families and bodies. We are here to help.
